1970s Lay’s TV Ad – Sloppy Joe

An advertisement from the 1970s for Lay’s Potato Chips showcasing their new quick meal product.

Why it was selected –

Advertisements are no strangers in the Nevermind Museum. As trivial as they may seem, each one was created to move us in one form or another using the era’s sights and sounds. Like the television shows they framed, they act as a snapshot of the time’s ideal life. Many have been lost to history. Advertisements have short lifespans and can look aged when put against the newer offerings. Sometimes 30 seconds can tell you a lot about the place where it once lived.

About –

The Nevermind Museum is a collection of obscure and curious media from around the world.

Our curators search the web and world far and wide to find films, photos, music, writings, advertisements, and more that tell us more about the deeper levels of human history than ever archived. We believe that while the big moments live in the history books, who we are lives in what we create. No matter its original purpose.

Our mission is to document and archive these works, allowing them to live on in a neutral space without judgment.

Welcome to the Nevermind Museum – it’s always been this way.
